Heartiest greetings to you all on celebrating Independence Day today.
Since India attained independence we have made remarkable progress and I am proud of our achievements. But at the same time it saddens me to think of the grave problems we are facing, for example, we have not yet met an equation in man-woman ratio.
As we take a look at the progress our country has made we must also learn to look at the crisis detrimental to our growth. For example, the declining ratio of women to men, female foeticide which is increasing at alarming rate. This issue is the cause of my concern. I will write about it in a week’s time.
Today as we celebrate Independence Day I wish you all take note of the responsibilities that come along with it.
I salute the known-unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s Independence.
Home Minister, State of Maharashtra.
